The theme of our Synod Assembly this year was “Imagine!  Imagine?  Imagine…” inspired by Ephesians 3:20, “Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine.”

It’s that time of the year again when teachers prepare their classrooms to welcome the students returning for their academic studies.  I wonder how much imagining needs to happen for the school to become a cohesive learning center for all who enter.  I wonder how much imagining has to happen for teachers and the students as well.  Students need to prepare for a new year, meeting new people, getting used to a new classroom and sometimes a new daily schedule.  And teachers prepare their room, their supplies, their resources and sometimes their support system.  That’s a lot of imagining.

I wonder if this would be a good time for us all to imagine.  Imagine our community as life for the community.  I wonder if you will wonder with me how we can be better stewards of the gifts we have here at First…and how these gifts can benefit the community at large.

We are called to be church in the world.  We are called to love our neighbors as ourselves.  So, let’s imagine together what that means to us.  Imagine how many gifts First Lutheran Church has to offer.  Imagine how those gifts can make a difference to the community and the world.  Imagine what we can do!  Imagine how much God can do in and through each of us if we worked together.  Just imagine!!
